One small lit match has the power to push darkness away. One lit candle has the power to push away a little more, and a flashlight even more. In a room full of powered flashlights, darkness doesn’t stand a chance against THE PUSH OF LIGHT.

Darkness must yield to the light. This is a universal law of physics. The light that emanates from a match will push away a lesser degree of darkness than a candle or a flashlight, but the darkness in the immediate vicinity of the match must yield, nevertheless.

I have artificial lenses in both of my eyes due to genetic cataracts. This has impaired my ability to see clearly in the dark. I used to be able to comfortably maneuver through a dark house in the middle of the night with little to no light, depending on how bright the moon was shining through the windows. Now, with my impaired night vision,  I have to mentally pre-plan where all the closest light switches are to illuminate the next few feet of the way while I am en route to ensure safe arrival to my predetermined destination. But sometimes, I am just too tired and too lazy to go to all that trouble, so I just try to wing it on the fly, irritated that I have to be dependant on an additional source of light of any kind.

I am undeniably clumsy. My Mom used to say, if there was a  single dog hair on the floor, I would trip on it!.  Add a dark room full of furniture into that dilemma and you have a recipe for disaster. After more futile attempts than I would care to admit to,  along with swear words either thought or uttered, broken toes, bruised shins, and dented or damaged walls and furniture, I have learned the hard way, that it will ALWAYS be safer and easier to find my way in the dark when I take the time and effort to turn on the light.

I think often of this lesson learned as it relates to my life, light, and darkness. We live in a world that was created with opposites, so there will always be darkness and there will always be light. What time and effort am I willing to invest to find and activate the adequate level of light source necessary to push away the darkness before me and illuminate safe passage?

Furthermore, what level of light do I radiate to help illuminate the way for someone else? Am I the match, the candle, or the flashlight? On any given day,  at any given time, I could be any one of them. THE PUSH OF LIGHT necessary to escape needless injury and banish the darkness today will not be enough for the increasing darkness in the days ahead.

I had better make sure I know to which sources I can turn for light and truth. I had better know where to find them. I had better start taking the necessary time and increasing my efforts to flip that switch and activate them in my life.

One small lit match has the power to push the darkness away. One lit candle has the power to push away a little more, and a flashlight even more. In a room full of powered flashlights, darkness doesn’t stand a chance against THE PUSH OF LIGHT!

THE PUSH OF LIGHT Is created on a wire mesh and natural fiber substrate, coated with concrete, gypsum, and plaster with mineral-based colorant. The composition suggests multiple sources of light and the power contained within to push away the darkness. The receding and buckling nature of the dark appears to be in defiant motion as it yields to THE PUSH OF LIGHT, against its will.

ENJOY!
