About the Artist

I am not an emerging artist, I am an “emergence” artist! I have been emerging for 61 years and am just getting started! To “emerge” from anything, you must first be “sub-merged.”

As I have undergone this process over and over of feeling like I will drown in the middle of life’s trials and then by grace, I am pulled from the wreckage…. I emerge. Standing on the side lines as a spectator, I witness the painful and yet purposeful beauty of the art of adversity starting to take form on the scaffolding of the broken, mangled, heap of that recent past. With my permission, it expands me into something more.

It is in this culmination of tens of thousands of these moments, that I realize with terror, humility and gratitude that there will never be a finished version of me.

THE TRIALS THAT COME TO US ALL FORM THE SUBSTRATE ON WHICH WE CREATE THE BEAUTY IN OUR LIVES. EVERY LIFE IS SINGULAR AS IS THE ADVERSITY WE EXPERIENCE.

ADVERSITY DOESN’T DEFINE CHARACTER…IT REVEALS IT.
MY USE OF ORGANIC AND SYNTHETIC SUBSTRATES REPRESENT SELF INFLICTED AND EXTERNALLY ORIGINATING HARDSHIPS. WHAT EMERGES FROM THE SCAFFOLDING, REPRESENTS THE MANNER IN WHICH OUR EVOLVING IDENTITY IS REVEALED.
