It’s always darkest in the 4th watch…..then comes the dawn. I have seen a pattern in my own life of getting to the point where it feels like, all is lost. Helplessness gives way to hopelessness and despair soon follows.
Then In my ignorance, I come to the realization that God is aware. He has been there all along, waiting for the invitation to be a part of the solution. Then, my arrogance gives way to humility, as I realize I was never required to do it on my own. He was waiting to show me, the miracle was Him.
Night will always come, if we ask…. so will the rescue.
Fourth Watch is a mixed media piece utilizing, recycled, post-consumer content that represents the seemingly undesirable aspects of mortality that we would prefer to dismiss, avoid and eliminate.
Natural minerals and Michas that represent natural law use the scaffolding of misfortune to build something new and purposeful from the refuse of difficulty.
The expression of the face embodies the human struggle of trial and triumph. The left side of the face is wracked with the torment and struggle of the first, second, and third stages of the trial. The right side of the face is reflective of the deliverance of the dawn at the end of the fourth watch.
enjoy!
