About the Artist
ARTIST STATEMENT – Kat Elliott
I sculpt in the language of light, shadow, and quiet geometry, working with plaster, gypsum, natural cement, mineral glass, mica, and reclaimed materials drawn from the earth. Each piece begins as a personal experience, insight, or emotional understanding—something that once had no physical form.
Through material and illumination, I give shape to what was previously internal, allowing it to exist in the world as surface, depth, and atmosphere.
My process is rooted in restraint and intention. I carve, cast, layer, and build each surface until it carries a sense of quiet movement—shifting subtly as the earth turns and light travels across it. Minerals and mica introduce grounded iridescence, while reclaimed materials add warmth and narrative history.
Designers and architects often describe my work as “luminous,” “architectural,” and “quietly commanding,” because it activates walls the way natural light animates a room.
I create with the belief that art should feel integrated, not applied. Whether an intimate wall sculpture or a large-scale architectural installation, each piece is crafted in dialogue with its environment—responding to proportion, sight lines, and illumination. My goal is to shape work where light, form, material, and inner experience come together to create moments of stillness, clarity, and presence.
