Very few things are made up of absolute black and white. On closer examination, we see that most things, that at first, appear absolute, are actually made up of varying shades of grey.
As humans we judge everything., including each other. It is a matter of survival. Our past experiences and how we perceive them, cause us to formulate templates, standards, opinions, boundaries and labels that form the governing laws of our internal universe. We are programmed by the “If…Then” playbook of our own life’s experiences so far.
What would the world look like if I stopped judging others on past experiences, first impressions and the labels I attach to them? Perhaps, I would begin to see the world from the perspective of the bug in the grass, instead of my distant, towering perspective above the lawn. I would cease to see the lawn and realize I too am a bug in the grass, among many other bugs, embracing the beautiful curiosity of my world and the people in it as seen through an infinite number of shades of grey.
Other Worlds .002 is comprised of gypsum, concentrated plaster, stone and concrete on a metal mesh and wood frame. The large section of black and white is constructed of natural fiber, stones, plaster, concrete and organic material. It represents the first impression labels and absolutes we place on people before we look deep enough to understand them. The Small stone, concrete and wood section represent the intricacies of a soul upon closer examination. The remaining 4 sections represent a universe of diversity, hidden under the perception of sameness.
